Job Purpose

Main Responsibilities

  • Interface with Internal and External customers & suppliers on quality issues.
  • Disposition of Non-Conforming Product, FAIR approvals, OFI Identification, Customer Issues, Provide Training, Improvement activities (inspection and process related).
  • Effective Control /raising of concessions, Fixed process Approvals, Production Approval Requests, Design Approval Requests etc. Corrective Action Requests (supplier issues & improvement activities).
  • Compile and submit FAIR’s ( Stage 1 /2 – Risk Based) for customer approval ( using Visual FAIR)
  • Compilation / monitoring of FMEA , Reproducibility & Repeatability Data , and PPAP Documentation (inc. acting as PPAP Coordinator)
  • Driving improvement activities to reduce scrap, rework and non-value added costs.
  • Data capture, analysis, and action generation to bring about improvements based upon factual data.
  • Supporting / leading 8D exercises multi-disciplined teams
  • Disposition and management of complaint product using customer process (e.g. Notice of Potential Quality Escape, DIVE package reviews etc.)
  • Completion of Internal Product, process, Quality Assurance and Quality Control Audits and External Supplier Audits / Corrective Action Follow ups as required.
  • Prepare and submit KPC data to customer as required.
  • Involvement with 2nd and 3rd party audits.

Required Experience and Skills

  • A minimum of 5 years experience in a quality engineer role
  • HNC/HND in an engineering discipline is essential 
  • Degree in an engineering discipline is desirable

RLC Manufacturing Engineers are responsible for creating and delivering world class manufacturing solutions. Working across multiple manufacturing disciplines as part of a world-class engineering team that deliver new capabilities into the business.

Capabilities that enhance the performance and presence of RLC by providing innovative and unique solutions that deliver products that are right first time. Experience across the RLC Manufacturing Engineering team spans complex components and multiple processes. Processes such as multi axis conventional and non-conventional machining, wet treatments, surface modification, ALM, bonding, joining and final assembly activity. With a growing knowledge of industrial robotics, automation, advanced NDT and emerging material systems our Manufacturing Engineers are expected to be at the forefront of industry knowledge, innovation and technology. A numerate, data driven approach is required in all engineering activities. Where the requirements of the project exceed existing capability, appropriate technology development activities will be required to develop the capability.

In addition to established manufacturing engineering skills and experience our engineers have demonstrated project management capability with the ability to manage multiple and competing priorities.

Representing RLC, our manufacturing engineers provide technical liaison with internal and external stakeholders, including customers and supplier partners.

Job Purpose

The Mill Turn machine setter-operator will work in the precision machining area of our business manufacturing high specification, tight tolerance, safety-critical aerospace parts in line with customer specification. The setter-operator will work on various mill turn machines, producing precision products in line with quality standards.

Ronaldsway Aircraft Company

Ronaldsway Aircraft Company is a complex aerospace machining business, manufacturing mainly strangers and aliens for both civil and military customers. There is a high set to run ratio due to the nature of the business, involving multiple set ups per shift to make small batches of product.

Main Responsibilities

  • Set up and run multiple 3-5 axis CNC mill/turn machines through multiple operations
  • Carry out machining of complex components to Customer drawing standards
  • Prove out processes, producing first-offs
  • Investigate root cause and corrective action of any non-conforming components produced
  • Adherence to all Company policies
  • Responsible for housekeeping of working area

Required Experience and Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a high precision manufacturing environment. Aerospace experience is preferred.
  • Experience of setting and operating CNC Machines, including but not limited to;
    • Mazak (Integrex), Traubs, Citizens (preferably M32/E32) or Gildermeister CNC machines.
  • Demonstrable ability to understand and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Experience of manufacturing parts to tight tolerances (as small as 0.0010’’)
  • Ability to read, follow and develop operating instructions and procedures
  • Ability to use inspection and measuring equipment such as verniers, micrometres, CMM machines etc.
  • Experience of adhering to quality standards.

RLC Ronaldsway is a world class provider of components & services to the Aerospace industry.  Located on the Isle of Man, we are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to support our CNC machining division.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the suitable candidate must be able to demonstrate a proven track record of defining and delivering efficient CNC machining processes for mill turn CNC machines.  Strong fundamentals in CAD, CAD/CAM and CNC machining are required.

We are seeking a person with a “can do” attitude who will work as part of a team with minimal supervision to deliver world class results.  You will be an integral part of an engineering team that defines and implements efficient defect free processes for new and existing product lines that are conducive with current aerospace manufacturing techniques. 

The Manufacturing Engineer will be required to:

  • Work effectively within a cross functional team to develop and produce equipment specifications and processes in line with existing guidelines, on time and within budget.
  • Have good understanding of aerospace manufacturing systems.
  • Interpret customer drawings, CAD models and specifications.
  • Create and maintain production methods including validation of capability to original scope and final customer requirements.
  • Provide NPI feasibility estimations and prove-out validation.
  • Provide hands-on technical and operator training for new and existing machining processes.
  • Work hands-on with machinists to develop new project roll-outs.
  • Knowledge of EdgeCam, Vericut, Mazatrol, Heidenhain and Fanuc Gcode.
  • Efficient in the use of 3D CAD systems. Eg Solidworks.
  • Experience in fixture design.
  • Strong problem-solving/problem-resolution skills.
  • Demonstrate lean implementation and sustainability.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Understanding databases and the Microsoft Office suite of software.
  • Provide technical support to customers, production cells and project teams.
  • Experience with CAPEX justification and new equipment implementation.
  • Define process flow for new and current projects using manufacturing system design tools and methodology.
