Engineering

For manufacturing engineering, tool design and NC programming, the RLC Group boasts a well resourced team of engineers. This team works in support of our manufacturing facilities and customers.

Working with our customers, the RLC is able to offer experience and skills to help produce a high quality finished product in a competitive lead time. Our skilled engineers have a wide range of capabilities including :-

  • Project Management
  • Methods Engineering
  • CNC Programming
  • CAD Modelling
  • Quality Engineering
  • Toolmaking & Design
  • Production Engineering

CAD/CAM Capability

RLC's CAD / CAM software is predominantly Unigraphics, but we also utilise DELCAM, and Varimetrix/NCL. All programs are verified off-line using VERICUT and Delmia VNC software to achieve right first time development and shorter new product lead times.

With numerous 5 axis machines RLC boasts many highly skilled 5 axis programmers using CNC machine manufacturers propriety software such Starrag's own blade / blisk software RCS and PSI. There are Renishaw probing and CAD links to RCS where adaptive milling is being performed. All tool design is performed in-house and shared in vericut and UGS programming.

Many customer projects are time constrained therefore a product design / modelling resource is available to assist proactive customers with concurrent projects.

Our experience in data transfer is usually in the form of IGES neutral file format that allows us to work with the variety of different CAD/CAM formats which our customers use. Thus we are able to handle designs, models and data in such formats as CATIA, CADDS5, PRO Engineer and Unigraphics.

Project Planning & New Product Introduction (NPI)

Project planning is an essential part of the RLC Engineering Group’s new product introduction process.

Our success in project management is based around the fact that all departments are involved at the outset of a project- purchasing, engineering, accounts, commercial, operations and quality.

A comprehensive contract review and manufacturing launch are then conducted on every new project.

An individually tailored project plan is created and dedicated teams established to liaise with the customer, outlining leadtime, risk identification and delivery date in a visual manner.

Full NPI controls are applied, from intitial new part contact through to the completion and delivery of the finished part, using technical engineering, resource requirements identification and capacity planning.
